Jack Jia, Founder, Chairman & CEO of Baynote Inc; Partner, GSR Ventures
Mr. Jia is a founder, Chairman and founding CEO of Baynote, Inc., a leading recommendation software company since 2004. He is also a partner of GSR Ventures and an angel investor. Jack was the founding CTO at Interwoven Inc. (NASDAQ: IWOV, now Autonomy), a leading software company that pioneered CMS category and valued at $7 billion. Prior to Interwoven, he was a founder and CEO of V-max America. Jack also led engineering and development at NASA, SGI, Stratus, and Sun Microsystems. Jack received an MBA from Santa Clara University, an MSEE from NYU-Poly, and a BSEE/MSCE from Beijing Jiaotong University. He is recognized as one of the 40 most accomplished oversea Chinese entrepreneurs and scholars by the Chinese central government as PRC celebrating its 60 founding anniversary in Oct 2009. He was voted as an Outstanding Alumnus by the five Jiaotong universities in 2010. Jack holds more than twenty technology patents. He is also a board member and former president of Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association (HYSTA).
Ed Yang | Chairman iSoftStone North America
Mr. Edward Yang is the President of iSoftStone Inc. and the Chairman of iSoftStone North America & Europe Business Group. Edward Yang has extensive management capabilities, strong understanding of the client outsourcing value proposition, and experience in cross-border management of China-based business.
Before joining iSoftStone, Edward Yang was formerly the Chairman of the Cross Shore Acquisition Corporation, a public company listed under London AIM. He was the Co-founder of the company that raised US $112 Million in April 2006, to support the acquisition of a leading US-based provider of clinical outsourcing services, and led its strategic expansion into Asia. In August 2007, Mr. Yang and his partner spearheaded and completed the (SPAC) acquisition and merger of a Philadelphia-based company with annual revenue over $100 Million.
From 1992 to 2000, Mr. Yang was Corporate Senior Vice President for Electronic Data Systems (“EDS”), responsible for its operations spanning the entire Asia-Pacific region. During his 8+ years with EDS, Mr. Yang brought outsourcing to the Asia-Pacific region and led the Company’s regional expansion from $100 million to more than $1.2 billion, with more than $4 billion in contracted revenue backlog.
Prior to joining EDS, Mr. Yang was Corporate Senior VP for Wang Laboratories, responsible for the Asia Pacific and Americas region, during which time he brought offshore R&D and manufacturing to Asia and established the Company’s first Mainland China Joint Venture partnership in Shanghai in 1980.
Born in China, brought up in Myanmar and educated in Taiwan and US, Mr. Yang earned his B.Sc. degree from National Taiwan University (1969), M.S. degree from University of Massachusetts (Lowell 1976) and his Presidential Executive MBA degree from Pepperdine University (1988). In 1997, he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Pepperdine University.
Robert P. Lee, Ph.D. | Executive Chairman, Achievo Corporation
Dr. Robert P. Lee, a 35-year veteran of the high-tech industry globally, is Executive Chairman of Achievo Corporation (one of the largest China IT services companies). Dr. Lee co-founded the company in 2002 and served as its CEO from 2002 through 2008. During that time, he was also CEO of Accela and led the company to become the dominant government enterprise software firm in the U.S.
Dr. Lee was president and CEO of Inxight Software, Inc. before joining Achievo. Prior to Inxight Software, he was chairman, president and CEO of Insignia Solutions plc, a software company he took public on NASDAQ in 1995.
Dr. Lee also served as executive vice president at Symantec Corporation where he led the acquisition and integration of many companies, including Norton Computing. He was senior vice president at Shared Medical Systems Corporation (now merged with Siemens), and earlier in his career held various technical and business management positions at IBM and Computer Sciences Corporation. Dr.Lee is currently on the board of Osel, Inc., a biopharmaceutical startup and was previously on the boards of two public companies, S3, Inc. and SONICblue.
Dr. Lee is active in professional and community activities. He serves as the chairman of the Board of Trustee of the AAMA (Asia America MultiTechnoloy Association), vice chairman of HYSTA’s China Global Services Alliance and advisory board member of the Chinese University of Hong Kong Center for Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Lee grew up in Hong Kong. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and master and doctorate degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles, all in computer science. Dr. Lee is fluent in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
Walter Fang | President, Neusoft America
Mr. Walter Fang, is President of Neusoft America Inc.,and Vice President of Neusoft Corporation, responsible for the sales, marketing, and business operations of Neusoft America.
Mr. Fang has over 35 years of IT experiences working for large multinational IT companies in Asia and North America, including 28 years with IBM, and has held many management, technical, and consulting positions in IBM Canada, IBM U.S., and IBM Asia Pacific.
Before coming back to Asia in 1997, he has helped many North America large organizations in government sector, financial, and telecommunication industries making the transition to object technology, developing IT architectures and implementing network computing solutions.
Prior to joining Neusoft, Mr. Fang was CEO of Computer And Technologies Software Ltd. (C&T Software) from 2000 to 2002. He has managed this start-up company in China and grew its software business substantially during his tenure.
Mr. Fang currently is also Chairman of International Association of Outsourcing Professional (IAOP) Beijing Chapter and Senior Consultant for Chinese Software and Information Services Industry Alliance as well as an advisory member of Expert Commission of CCIIP (China Council for International Investment Promotion) ChinaSourcing Working Committee.
Mr. Fang is an expert in object-oriented technology. He is the author and creator of the Visual Modeling Technique (VMT) development methodology. He graduated from Cheng Kung University in Taiwan with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He received a Master of Science degree in computer science from National Taiwan University.
Leslie Yuen | Vice President Global Sales and Marketing, VanceInfo Technologies, Inc.
Leslie Yuen has over two decades of business development, sales leadership, and marketing experience with leading global organizations. He started his successful sales career with Eastman Kodak Company, where he was among the first pioneers to promote western technology to China during the Four Modernization Programs in the 1980s. He went on to build a solid track record in the localization and outsourcing industry with Lionbridge Technologies and Bowne Global Solutions, where he led a team of business development managers and generated tens of millions of profitable revenue. His specialty is crafting solutions for global product releases, helping his customers achieve lower cost, higher quality, and faster time-to-market. Today, Leslie is passionate about working for a China-based company that is emerging as a global leader in its industry.
Leslie continues to expand his leadership skills and knowledge by attending the professional development programat Stanford University. He is also an industry panelist at the Forum for American/Chinese Exchange at Stanford- Stanford University, the Executive Bilingual MBA Globalization Program at the University of San Francisco, the judging panel for UC Berkeley Business Plan Competition.
A Hong Kong native, Leslie is an alumnus of LaSalle in Hong Kong and the Philippines. He earned his B.S. degree in Psychology and his MBA from De La Salle University. In his spare time, Leslie collects and races classic Italian cars.
Paul Liu|CIO and Head of Managed Services, Freeborders
Paul Liu is the Chief Information Officer of Freeborders with overall responsibility for Information Technology and Security. Additionally, is the Head of the Freeborders Infrastructure Outsourcing Service Line (one of the four major service lines that include Business Consulting, Application Development, and Packaged Apps).
Mr. Liu has over 17 years of experience in Information Technology spanning North America and Asia, covering a wide range of high tech start-ups as well as the Fortune 1000. Over the past 8 years, he has spent the majority of his time in the Shanghai and Guangdong regions of China building and operating major divisions for US companies. Prior to joining Freeborders, Paul was Director of IT Operations for UTStarcom where he was based in Hangzhou, China driving datacenter operations and ERP implementations.
Before that, Paul served in various technical and management roles for two successful IPO companies in Silicon Valley. The latter was ONI Systems which was one of the most successful optical networking IPOs in 2000. Currently, he is very much involved in entrepreneurship activities that bridge the US and China as well as advising early stage high tech start-up companies.
Paul spent his formative years in Guangzhou and Hong Kong and later received his education from UCLA and holds multiple certifications in Systems and Infrastructure. When not travelling, Paul enjoys spending time with family and friends and working on home remodelling projects. Paul is also an avid tennis player and golfer.
Xuan Qin| Financial Advisor, Merrill Lynch
Xuan Qin is a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch. Prior to joining her firm, Xuan worked as a licensed commodities and foreign exchange broker by the National Futures Association. Xuan is originally from Shanghai, China and received her education in both Europe and the US. She is fluent in Chinese, French and English. In her casual time, Xuan enjoys sailing, hiking and wheel throwing pottery. Her interests focus on globalization and technology innovations. As a core member on the HYSTA-CGSA team, Xuan consistently contributes to the organization’s growth and planning and she is proud to be part of the fastest growing chapter of HYSTA.
Boyuan Sun| Software Engineer, Oracle
Ms. Boyuan is a software Engineer at Oracle. She works on Oracle Fusion Procurement Application Development. She is in charge of designing, analyzing, developing, and troubleshooting Oracle Fusion Procurement Sourcing Application.
Prior to joining Oracle, Boyuan Sun had product design and development, strategy consulting, and data analysis experience.
Boyuan received her M.S. in EE from Caltech and her B.S. in E.E. from Tsinghua University.
